Hi guys. The lack of recent updates is, well, my fault. I need to get back into the deal posting groove. FDA Warns Against Using Zicam
|
This one is a little off the beaten path but it's worth spreading the word to me. Many years ago I read about the 1999 study in which a group of people used a trial of Zicam, a popular nasal spray cold remedy, and sued the company for permanent loss of their sense of smell. I've been telling people since that I would never use the stuff.
It's nice to see that ten years later, the FDA is finally looking into it. - "In 2006, Matrixx paid $12 million to settle 340 lawsuits from Zicam users who claimed that the product destroyed their sense of smell, a condition known as anosmia. Hundreds more such suits have since been filed."
- "Matrixx has received more than 800 reports of Zicam users losing their sense of smell but did not provide those reports to the F.D.A., said Deborah M. Autor, director of compliance in the agency’s drug center."
The FDA asked that Zicam be voluntarily recalled and the company refused. I smell a fight brewing...something that hundreds of Zicam users can no longer do. For now, if you have some Zicam in your medicine cabinet it looks like the company will give you a refund if you call 1-877-942-2626. I hope some jail time is dished out on this one.

Looks like I am getting a little better at last-minute packing. Last year I posted a note that I would get four hours of sleep. This year it looks like five hours. Soon I will be out in balmy Mexico to celebrate my two year anniversary. Yeah, my wife is coming again this year. I will return with fresh deals on the 19th!
Fans of zombie survival co-op games should be sure to check out the weeklong Left 4 Dead demo that lasts until the 11/18 release date. I already pre-ordered my copy on Steam. Keep the infected undead at bay for me until I get back!

It's year four for the annual fishing trip to Canada. Where in Canada? I can never remember. I just drive three hours to my hometown the get on the bus and take the 8hr ride.

It's a baseball adventure. My wife, brother-in-law, and I are heading to Baltimore to catch a game today then going out to Chicago to see a Mets/Cubs and Yankess/White Sox game. BestBuy to Mail $50 Gift Cards to HD-DVD Player Buyers

You don't often see nice gestures from big companies, even if it does have a little PR behind it. Bestbuy will be mailing out $50 gift cards to HD-DVD buyers. That's proactively mailing out, not just offering and seeing who takes it. Nice. Applies to HD-DVD players and attachments, not movies - but that's understandable. Info nugget below.- "Best Buy said it will give a $50 gift card for each item, which will likely lead to the distribution of more than $10 million in U.S. gift cards. The retailer said it will identify customers through its Reward Zone program, performance service plans and through online purchases and will mail out the gift cards to those individuals by May 1. Customers that feel they won't be identified through these measures can call the company and provide a Best Buy receipt or credit card information for proof of purchase.
